FUNCTIONAL Spider-Man Mask With MECHANICAL LENSES! DIY No Electronics

So hey what's up sean here and you're probably wondering how are these lenses moving immediately this cool mechanical lens effect are some things that we see within the live-action MCU spider-man and that I was ready to make these mechanical lenses using just simple materials like rubber bands and magnets actually this whole mask was made by hand using easy everyday materials that do not break the bank so that you guys.

can follow this video and build your own functional spiderman mask reception by the way we recently hit 100 000 subscribers on this channel so I just wanted to many thanks all considerably for your support and many thanks guys for being a neighborhood of this youtube journey with me I actually appreciate you within the description box below you will find all the templates that I used for this project also as an entire list of materials I used also first things first I found a free spider-man mask template on Dali Lomo.Blogspot

.com which I'll link within the description box below and you will get to open this template in adobe reader so that once you print it out it actually splits up into multiple pages which way you will have yourself a full-scale template that you simply can hack then tape together I'll leave a link within the description also to adobe reader which is liberal to download for anyone and really helpful when trying to print out large.

templates like this once I had my template all cut out and connected together I transferred all of the pieces to the present thin poster board cardboard which is essentially an equivalent material as the box so you'll even use a box for this I assume now we will put aside the template and fold and glue the pieces together until we get the form of the mask to start out forming I used super glue to connect all the sides together which isn't optimal because it takes forever to dry.

but I wanted the within of the mask to be as flat as possible for the mechanical lenses now after I put that entire mask together using those pre-existing templates I found that the attention holes were a touch bit too big so I had to form my very own additional pieces to switch it and obtain it precisely the way I wanted it now I used wood filler to contour the mask and make it less angry and have all those ugly you recognize sharp edges.

therefore the wood filler here is basically honestly the star of the show and it's what is going on to step this mask up a notch and permit it to possess that basically buttery smooth rounded look I'm not gonna lie this step literally takes forever but it's every 100 worthwhile and you will get to do multiple layers of the wood filler until.

you catch on nice and round but trust me wood filler is really very easy and forgiving to figure with so it's pretty it is a pretty relaxing process just to fill and sand it this is often quite optional but I like to recommend spraying the mask with spray adhesive which way it leaves behind this sticky quite grippy texture which will make it easier to.

eliminate wrinkles later because the material won't want to slide and slide everywhere the place before we will make the mechanical lens mechanism we just got to temporarily tape on these lens frames here so that we've some extent of reference once we attend position the lenses at a particular angle I cut the mechanical.

lenses out of a plastic duo-tang since they're going to be traveling tons and therefore you recognize elastic band s are going to be constantly tugging on them and whatnot so this material will work well for that because it's quite durable once all four lenses are inserted you'll see here that they will basically be swiveling thereon push pin at now I went ahead and attached some cord to rock bottom lens using some super glue and.

masking paper so as you'll see the cord starts on rock bottom lens passes through a series of tubes here then gets glued onto the highest lens then goes through another tube down here [Music] by the way these three tubes were taken from an empty ballpoint ink tube but there's obviously tons of other belongings you could use here now I added masking paper ahead of all of the lenses because the.

glue on the within of the mask is quite jaggedy and might cause the lenses to urge stuck the lenses were kind of shooting up as you'll see here so I simply added these four pieces to push the lens up against the front of the mask more to make the lenses retractable I used a mixture of magnets and elastic band s and this is the left side as you'll see so I'll demonstrate the way to do that on the proper side first we add the magnets and before I could glue the magnet onto the lens I
had to attach a bit of masking.

paper on top then glue a bit of paper on top of that because the magnet doesn't adhere alright to the plastic so just a fast tip for you there now we will glue on this small piece of cardboard for the rubber band if you are trying to attach the rubber band directly it'll eventually take off so a simple fix for that's just to feature these little cardboard bars thanks for reading
